Short description:
On day 4 of our GameJam, we focused on refining how we communicate the message behind our game. We prepared our pitch, aiming to capture the deeper meaning of our project. We also wrote the final “warning” - message at the end of the interface and incorporated it into the code. In the DD Lab, we created a museum plaque by engraving a vinyl plate with a text that provides players with insights into our game’s abstract and absurd nature. Alongside this, we worked on improving the game’s code, sounds, and interface flow. Right before the presentation of the game, on Friday, we completed the final touches, ensuring that the pictures and sounds worked well together.
Method:
Today, we selected the methods “Pitching Games for Culture” and “Plaque Expo”, as they were the most relevant for our process and game.
We began by designing our pitch to ensure we are ready to present the game tomorrow. Our goal was to keep the pitch short and precise, aiming to convey our idea in approximately two minutes.
After that, we worked on the “Plaque Expo”. Here, we created a short text to provide players with insight and a deeper understanding of the game and its context. This text serves as an elaboration of the concept for players who seek further clarification or have additional questions. We then came up with the idea for a creative plaque, which we produced in the Lab. Using a laser cutter, we engraved the text onto a plastic plate. To enhance the effect, we placed the plaque in a dark box and added lighting, as shown in the picture.

Programming:
The fourth day also included a lot of programming for the actual game. A lot of complications, things we hadn’t really tried before, but trial and error helped us pull through. We made the game in P5JS and ended up with a simple browser game. Looking back at it we could’ve done a bunch of things differently for the choice of code and overall could’ve had a more methodical approach to the entire thing. With ideas coming and going while creating the actual game, it puts your code to test how “good” it is at adapting and changing depending on the proposition at hand.
